Minutes: Pathfinder/MIT Meeting on 2010-07-18

Minutes of Tunapuna SDA Pathfinder Club Pathfinder/MIT Meeting held on Sunday 18th July 2010

Venue: Tunapuna SDA Church 

Commencement: 15:35

All persons present assembled downstairs for Pathfinder Dress and recitation of the Pathfinder and Adventist Youth Aims, Mottos, Laws and Songs then the meeting continued in the upper room of the church.

Opening Prayers were said by Mr. Johnathon (Pathfinder) and Mr. Anslem Charles.

Devotion was done by Mr. Charles on the topic "Thou shalt not steal" (Exodus 20:15).

Mr. Charles gave a presentation on Pathfindering and its many benefits, after which the Pathfinders (those under 16) where separated from the MITs (Master Guides in Training). Mrs. James took charge of the Pathfinders and Mr. Charles led the MITs. 

Gisele Benjamin was nominated, seconded and accepted to the post of MIT Secretary/Treasurer by those present.

The Master Guide Requirements where then read by Mr. Charles.

Rules

The following rules where suggested to be adopted by the Tunapuna Master Guide Club in addition to those rules adopted by the church and the global Pathfinder Club:

  •  Mobile phone communication is not allowed during club meetings.
  • Chewing of gum is not allowed during club meetings.
  • Eating is only allowed via special excemption during club meetings.
  • Permission must be granted for members to be excused during club meetings.
  • A monthly due of $10 is payable on the first meeting of every month.
  • All members are expected to be appropriately dressed for club meetings. The usual dress consists of tops that are to be tucked into baggy pants with closed toed full shoes. Clothing should be comfortable and should be worn with the expectation of ground exercises.
  • A merit system will be implemented. Points will be deducted due to rule violations.
  • All members are required to present a notebook, bible and writing material to all club meetings.

Homework

  1. Acquire a Scrapbook
  2. Seeds: Collect thirty (30) seeds, ten (10) of which can be commercially acquired. Due on or before August 1st.
  3. Trees: Collect fifteen (15) leaves from fifteen different trees. Due on or before August 1st.
  4. Prepare answers for the following questions for August 1st:

    1. Define the following terms:
      1. Trees
      2. Shrubs
    2. What is the difference between a tree and a shrub?
    3. Give two trees:
      1. that are named for what it is used for. Example: Cotton
      2. that are named for the surroundings/environment in which they grow
      3. that are named for the geographic region in which they live
      4. that grow best in the mountains
      5. that are used for furniture. Example: Teak
    4. What are the two great classes of trees?
    5. What are the differences between these two great classes of trees?
    6. What type of tree is best used for making coals?
  • Read the book 'The Steps to Christ' and prepare a one (1) page book report on or before August 18th.
  • Read all four (4) Gospels. Complete before the first week in September.
  • Read the book 'Education' by Ellen G. White and write a two (2) page book report on or before September 12th.
  • Find a book on leadership/child development and submit a two (2) page book report on or before the last week in September.
  •  

    All pathfinders, MITs and Master Guides assembled downstairs for dismissal @ 1815.
